Whether it be for email, social media or other serivces, we all hold an account for something on the internet. To access that account, we likely need to enter a password.

The weaker your password is, the easier it is for a hacker to gain access to your account and any of data that is stored on it. If a hacker does get access to your accounts of PC then they can cause further damamge by then further targeting your friends or other computers on your network.

In order to keep your passwords strong, make sure they always contain:

At least 8 characters
A Number
A Capital Letter
A Special Character, such as !$*&

Always opt in to use 2 Factor Authentication when available. This will require you to enter a code from an app or text on your phone whenever you log in.
Use a different password for each different site. If someone does manage to get hold of one of your passwords, they will only be able to access one site.
If you have difficulty remembering so many passwords, use a password manager such as Last Pass. This will keep all your passwords stored securely and will enter them for you on your own devices.
Make sure that any website you are entering sensitive information on, such as your password or bank details, has a green SSL padlock to the left of the URL. This is evidence that the site is securing your information.
